Additional Initiatives

CARLA’s mission -- to improve language teaching and learning -- is accomplished through its numerous grant-related projects. In addition, CARLA supports a number of broad initiatives that are not tied to specific projects, along with variety of individual CARLA members’ activities that fall outside the bounds of its funded projects but have the CARLA mission at their core. Examples of these initiatives include CARLA summer institutes, the International Language Teacher Education conference, presentations by CARLA Fellows, publication of non-project-based CARLA Working Papers, co-sponsorship of grants that are housed in other departments or institutions, and sponsorship of academic conferences focused on language teaching and learning.
