Majhanovich, S. (1990). Challenge for the 90s: The problem of finding qualified staff for French core and immersion programs. The Canadian Modern Language Review 46, 452-465.

This study describes a survey designed to determine how many French core and immersion teachers school boards planned to hire in Ontario province. Results showed that the shortage is not as serious as generally believed, although there is cause for concern. Study also indicated that FSL methodology courses should include more emphasis on immersion teaching and that immersion preparation programs should consist of more course work. The Ministry should distinguish more between FSL and immersion. There should be a greater balance among the supply of teachers at the various levels of schooling and between different geographic areas.
