GRAMMAR-RELATED WORK

Before you view the work of the students you need to do the following:
1. Have a Hindi script font installed on your computer.
The Kanchi font we used (for Macintosh) is available from here for free.
2. Set the Proportional Font on your browser to the Hindi font (go to menu Options, then Preferences and Fonts).


Second Quarter First year Hindi.
(The activity takes place in the Computer Lab. Student work in pairs.)

Task: Look at the picture and write up a story using the compulsion construction as much as possible (H. H. van Olphen's First Year, p. 147).

Purpose: To give the students the opportunity to work in a meaningful, contextualize and visually supported situation.

Target: writing, grammar, vocabulary skills.

This is a fruit store. A man is standing in the middle of the store. He is the fruitseller. He needs to drink some water, but he has to watch the fruits. Kids are going to take fruits. All people have to buy fruits. Then they have to talk to the fruitseller. He has to sell fruits for his family.
