This brochure was designed to highlight the benefits of taking a world language for teachers of world languages to copy and share with colleagues, counselors, parents, students administrators and communications departments. It was developed by the World Languages Learning Area Support Team, Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning. For more information see the references page.

Multilingual Minnesota
This online resource center has many resources to support multilingualism in Minnesota including information on bilingualism and a director of language service providers.

Minnesota International Center

Explore Minnesota
The Explore Minnesota web site (www.exploreminnesota.com/) features links to Minnesota information in German, Dutch, Japanese, and British English. The sites include information on many topics including making travel arrangements, recreational opportunities, entertainment, sports, restaurants, the Boundary Waters and history of the fur trade as well as maps that can be enlarged. Look for the flags at the bottom right of the page.

Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures (MCTLC)
MCTLC is the Minnesota affiliate of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL). It promotes language study in the state, organizes an annual conference for language teachers, publishes a statewide newsletter, offers a listserv for members, and provides a variety of professional growth opportunities.

Minnesota New Visions: Languages for Life is a group of language teachers who came together initially in July 2002 to identify critical issues within the profession and begin working on plans to address those issues.

MinneTESOL
MinneTESOL is a professional association of teachers of English as a Second Language in Minnesota and neighboring states dedicated to the education and support of students acquiring English at all levels of public and private education. Held at the beginning of May in the St. Paul Civic Center, this is a weekend of international exhibits, entertainment, food, marketplace, and educational activities for all ages. Weekday hours are scheduled for student groups.
