Advice, Suggestions, Disagreements, Complaints, & Reprimands



In this module, you will learn the basics of advice, suggestions, disagreements, complaints, and reprimands in Spanish.

This module contains three primary sections:

    1. Advice & Suggestions
    2. Disagreements & Complaints
    3. Reprimands & Responding to Reprimands

The majority of the activities are found in the Advice & Suggestions section since there is more information currently available to us. The other two sections, Disagreement & Complaints and Reprimands & Responding to Reprimands also explore relevant issues, but are less extensive. Stay tuned! As more information becomes available, we will update the site.

 

What will you learn about the communicative acts in this module?

In this module, we will examine various pragmatic strategies you can use in Spanish to give advice and suggestions, disagree, complain, reprimand and respond to reprimands.

At the end of this module, you will know how to:

  1. Understand various language strategies you can use to give advice and make suggestions.
  2. Identify contexts in which advice and suggestions are appropriate.
  3. Perceive and consider important social factors when giving and receiving advice.
  4. Understand various language strategies and social factors that are important when expressing disagreement and complaining.
  5. Understand various language strategies and social factors that are important in reprimands and identify some distinctions in language varieties.
